For running ZFS on RAID controllers we need the RAID-controller in HBA or IT-mode for RAID pass trough and a separate boot device, you can't usually boot from a HBA device.

Burn-in any HD or Server. When customer satisfaction is the key objective, you need to go the extra mail and make sure there are no breaks early due to bad HW or bad SW. Most bad HD failures happens early if they are to fail. The failing due to old age is easy to handle by monitoring.

The terminal is where I spend most of my day. My main tools are alacritty, iTerm2, zsh, tmux and then neovim. They are riced and have a number of plugins.

This happens some times especially on older consumer grade stuff like SATA disks but also enterprise grade stuff will break. Newer ever think you don't need backup's, you do! ZFS makes all this easier.
